چکیده مقاله:
Learning to write is one of the most challenges for foreign language learners that face during the process of learning alanguage. One way to alley the burden is to uses of writing cover the range of uses that learners will perform in theirdaily lives. These can include use the topic types as a strategy for gathering information to write on a particular topic.The topic type strategy is most suited to learners who are at the intermediate level. The present study investigate theeffectiveness of use topic types on the improvement of EFL writing proficiency. To fulfill the purpose of the study 30learners from among 60 Iranian Intermediate level students of Institutes in Fooladshahr city participated in the study.The participants were divided into two equal groups of experimental and control based on the results of a proficiencytest. Each session one topic type was thought to the learners of experimental group while the control group were notthought the topic type. Pretest and posttest were also used to assess the knowledge of writing during the sessions.Results of t-test analysis indicated that participants in the experimental group out performed those in the control group.The result of this study can help teachers to provide pedagogical implication for utilizing topic types as effectivestrategy for writing in different genres.
