چکیده مقاله:

Background and Aim: Eating habits play an important role in the onset and progression of metabolic disorders, including metabolic syndrome (MS). This study aimed to assess the association of dietary factors with MS components in overweight and obese adultsMethods: This cross-sectional study was based on data from Ravansar Noncommunicable Disease (RaNCD) cohort study. A total of 6,834 adults aged 35 to 65 years with BMI≥25 were selected. Dietary intake data were obtained using the food frequency questionnaire. Waist circumference, biochemical and blood pressure data were assessed. Multiple linear regression analysis was used to assess MS components and dietary intakeResults: After adjusting for potential confounding variables such as age, sex, smoking, drinking alcohol and physical activity, triglycerides were positive association with total energy intake, carbohydrates, and cholesterol (p<0.05). High-density lipoprotein cholesterol was negative association with total energy intake, carbohydrates, protein, total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, MUFA and PUFA (p<0.05). Higher protein and saturated fat intake was positively associated with fasting blood sugar (p<0.05). Additionally, results revealed systolic blood pressure was positive association with total energy intake, carbohydrates, protein and PUFA (p<0.05). Diastolic blood pressure was also positive association with total energy intake, carbohydrates, total fat, protein, cholesterol, MUFA and PUFA and waist circumference was positive associated with PUFA (p<0.05).Conclusion: Our study demonstrates that there is a strong association between a dietary intake and components of MS. The HDL and blood pressure were the most frequent MS components associated with dietary intake
