چکیده مقاله:

Introduction and Objectives:Cervical cancer is the fourth-most common and fourth-most deadly female malignancy worldwide. It has been reported that EBV might be involve in cervical cancer pathogenesis. Therefore this study was conducted to investigate the frequency of EBV infection in cervical lesions withdifferent grade.Material and methods:In this cross-sectional study 105 formalin-fixed paraffin embedded biopsy(FFPE) samples of different grades of cervical lesion (CINI to SCC) were included. After deparafinization, DNA was extracted by Qiagen DNA mini kit by manufacture procedure. PCR for beta globin genewas performed to ensure about accuracy of extraction and quality of DNA.150After that a conventional PCR with specific primers was performed to detect of EBV genome fragment in samples.Result:The mean ageof participants was 43±13. Out of 105 samples,34 samples were LSIL with CIN I, 24 samples were HSIL with CIN II, 21 samples were HSIL with CIN III, 23 samples were SCC and 3 were adenocarcinoma. EBV genome fragment was detected in 13 samples (12%). The grade of positive samples wasCINI (2 sample), CIN II (6 sample), CIN III (2 sample) andSCC (3 sample). Conclusion:Our results show EBV might be involved in cervical cancer pathogenesis. Moreover, the higher frequency of EBV genome in HSIL (CINII & CINIII) grade might be importantmarker in cancer lesion progression.
