چکیده مقاله:

The most promising thermal recovery technology is the SAGD process. In a typical SAGD approach, parallel oil wells are drilled in the formation. The upper well injects steam and the lower one collects the liquid that results from the condensation of the injected steam and the crude oil or bitumen. Single-well (SW) SAGD attemps to creat a similar process using only one horizontal well. This may include steam injection from the toe of the horizontal well with production at the heel. However, steam generation by natural gas combustion can render the process uneconomic. Ithas been suggested that addition of injected solvents, improves oil rates or at least maintains similar oil rates with reduced steam. This is the basis of the expanding solvent-steam assisted gravity drainage (ES-SAGD) process. Operation at reasonably low pressures provides savings due to reduced SOR and smaller production well liners and tubular. Low pressure SAGD (LP-SAGD) is defined as involving pressures below what steam/gas lift can accommodate, and above pressures where low pressure consequences such as reduced oil rates and artificial lift difficulties affect the viability of SAGD operations. In this paper, different variations of SAGD process are analyzed and their advantages, limitations and possible applications in a in a variety of reservoir and production scenarios are outlined. At the end, the feasibility of SAGD usage in Iranian fractured reservoirs is investigated and the remaining challenges are specified.
