چکیده مقاله:
In this paper modelling, simulation and optimization of cyclic thermal packed bed regenerators is presented. At first part of the paper a mathematical model is introduced to simulate a packed bed regenerator in which steel spherical particles are used as packing and air is used as the process fluid. The results of simulation reveal good agreement with experimental results. In the other part of paper, Reynolds number effect on optimum value of dp/dt ratio in packed bed regenerator’s performance and effect of flow rates on thermal efficiency, pressure drop and time needed for thermal equilibrium between hot and cold period are studied Genetic algorithm is used as optimization algorithm the results of optimization showed increase in flow rate will increase optimum value of dp/dt and pressure drop and decrease thermal efficiency.
