Overview of welding procedure qualification according to ISO 15614-1:2017

Application of qualified welding procedure in production of welded components ensures repeatability and usage of approved welding technology that could provide required mechanical properties of certain product in exploitation. However, qualification itself requires that manufacturer is able to provide technological know-how together with equipment and welder or operator skill. Scope of testing during qualification is very extensive and welding coordinators should be aware of qualification cost and its usability in practice. In this paper the main aspects of welding procedure qualification are presented in scope of application of new standard ISO 15614-1:2017 together with specific issues regarding range of qualification and comparison to an old version. Generally, conclusion is given towards main differences and its application in practice
