چکیده مقاله:
Objective: Gold fish is one of the most prevalent ornamental fishes which is used both as an ornament in the aquariums and as an old custom of Iranians on Nowrouz. These fishes were reared in soil ponds. One of the most prevalent parasites of these ponds, is Lernea which can cause both deformity and death among these fishes.
Method & Materials: In this study, 200 fishes have been examined. These fishes have been transported to the laboratory of fish disease in the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine in the University of Tehran, and then clinical examination, wet smear and microscopic study were carried out.
Results & Conclusion: In this study, infection with Lernea was observed in 45 of the goldfishes. The number of parasites that observed in each fish was between 1 and 14. In some cases haemorhagy and inflammation on body surface and fins were observed without any presence of Lernea. This study indicated that Lernea is one of the most significant and prevalent parasitic contaminations in the goldfishes of Kashan. Given due attention to the manner of the settlement of these parasites on the fishes. Although the treatment may kill the parasite, but the dead parasite and its wounds will still remain and will cause decrease of demand of these fishes in the market. Therefore, it is necessary to prevention from this contamination by using of trichlorophon 0/25 ppm for three times in April to May.
