The evaluation of levamisole effect on some blood parameters of rainbow trout (Oncorrhynchus mykiss)

Objective: In order to study levamisole effect on some blood parameters of rainbow trout, 360 fry rainbow trouts (50±5gr) in 4 treatments with 3 replicates were fed within one month. Method & Materials: Samples with the diet including zero (control group or treatment one), 100 (treatment 2), 250 (treatment 3) and 500 (treatment 4) mg/kg levamisole food, were fed for a month. In days zero, 15 and 30 of growing period, fish were bled through cutting off tail. Then hematological data were collected. Hematocrit, the amount of blood lymphocytes, WBC, monocytes, heterophils and hemoglobin, both in treatment groups with levamisole and control group were studied. Results & Conclusion: Studies showed that there was an increase in the number of blood lymphocytes in treatment groups with levamisole in comparison with that of control group and the highest rate was found with the treatment 4. Besides, there was a decrease in amount of WBC in treatment groups with levamisole. There was no changes in other blood parameters mentioned above (p<0.05).
