Engineering Graduate Students Views on Effective Ownership of Academic Patenting

For sustainable and effective innovation, who should have the ownership for the academic patent obtained as a result of industry funding Based on the Vroom s expectancy theory, we deal with this issue in the perspective of engineering graduate students who have experience of R&D project, expecting that they will lead important innovation in the near future. In order to identify influential factors on this issue, we utilize a decision tree analysis by considering graduate students views on various factors related to researcher , sponsor , technology , and compensation . This study is expected to contribute to improve the ownership issue of academic invention by accommodating the voices of young inventors.
