چکیده مقاله:

The presence of a porch, in old Iranian homes, formed the boundary between privacy and the space outside the home. The Porch, as a principle of homemaking, not only prevented strangers from looking into the home with their twisting hallways, but they also prepared the person who was leaving the home to enter the outside world, and prepare the one coming into the home for the peace inside, by providing a transition between these two spaces, so as to clarify the distinction between these two spaces, and that different behaviors are required in these two. In other words, the role of Porches was defining and strengthening the neighbor’s relations. In fact, this space was used to protect the relation between intimates and non-intimates, and observing the privacy of the home. However, nowadays, the architectural pattern has become distant from its traditional Islamic form, and this has caused many visible and invisible difficulties. By dissolution and disintegration of the rhythm of the hierarchy in Iranian home spaces, privacy has undergone changes that have been reinforced by the elimination of porches and entrances. Now these questions are formed: Considering the restrictions in design, how can we implement privacy in today’s designs How can we utilize the Porch, as a main principle, in modern architectural design And, to what extent does creating privacy affect the peace and honoring the values of the residents of homes The objective of this research, which is descriptive in nature, and the tool for gathering data is eyewitnesses and written sources and other documents, is to find solutions for using identity elements of Iranian architecture in modern architecture and moving it toward Iranian architecture with Islamic identity. Thus the results of this study indicate that using innovation in architectural practice in contemporary designs, attaining the above objectives is not too far from reality, and that this architectural concept can be used as a pattern in modern architecture
