چکیده مقاله:

The aim of this study was investigating translation strategies employed by translation students and professional translators and .The present research is an empirical study in which the researcher has used Think-aloud protocols as the data collection tools. The participants of this study were 3 BA translation students (who had completed sixsemesters of their studies) and 3 professional translators. They were asked to translate several advertisements whileThinking-aloud, i.e. verbalizing whatever came to their mind. The data gathered through Think-aloud protocols were analyzed and based on experts’ judgments, Gerloff (1986) categorization of strategies and objectives of this study, forty strategies were identified. The strategies comprised eight main categories of ,Problem Identification ,LinguisticAnalysis ,Storage and Retrieval ,General Search and Selection ,Inferencing and Reasoning strategies ,TextContextualization ,Editing and Extra textual strategies. The results revealed that the participants had employed a variety of different strategies while translating advertisements
