چکیده مقاله:
One of the greatest problems for the translators of scientific texts for example medical texts, is the translation of neologisms. The novelty nature of neologisms gets translators into trouble to find proper equivalence. Newmark (1811) defined neologisms as newly coined lexical units or existing lexical units that acquire a new sense (p. 141). The present study was an attempt to consider the most frequent type of neologisms in medical texts and also to identify the most common procedure applied in their translation from English into Persian. Also, the researcher aimed at clarifying whether Persian translators preserve the novelty accompanying the lexical terms in their translation or not. To achieve the aims, a parallel corpus of medical texts was selected which was consist of three books published during 2111 to 2111. The instances of neologisms were identified in them and compared with their Persian counterparts. The findings of the research suggested that formal neologisms were the most frequent type of neologisms in medical texts, and transference was the most frequent translation procedure in rendering neologisms. And the novelty of neologisms was preserved. The final results shed some lights upon translation norms of intended decade and the translators approach toward translation of neologisms
