The Evaluation of in-service training courses on midwives performance in Maternity Hospitals in the southern province of Kerman

The main aim of the present research was to determine the effect of in-service training on midwives performance in Maternity Hospitals in the southern province of Kerman. In this Semi- experimental interventional study, among the maternity hospitals in the southern province of Kerman, two maternity hospitals were randomly selected. One of the hospitals was determined as case group and other hospital was determined as control. Of each center 58 midwives were selected by systematic random sampling method. Data accumulation instrument was a questionnaire constructed by researcher based on precede-proceed model. Educational was performed in four sessions for participants in the case group. Data were collected before and two weeks after the intervention. Data was analyzed by SPSS 18 software and chi-square test, Fisher s exact test, Mann-Whitney test and Wilcoxon test. Based on the results: the significant difference was seen between two groups in mean difference scores (before and after) of the precede-proceed constructs [performance (Knowledge and attitude (predisposing factors), enabling factors, reinforcing factors and practice)] (p < 0.05). Thus in-service training courses could play a part in enhancing the quality of Maternal and child care programs.
