ETL )Extraction, Transformation, Loading) processes are the backbone component of a data warehouse, since they supply the data warehouse with the necessary integrated and reconciled data from heterogeneous and distributed data sources. In the traditional framework, the ETL components are tightly-coupled to each other, sharing semantics, libraries, and often sharing state. This makes it difficult for the application to evolve and to adapt with the ever changing business requirements. The asynchronous nature of loosely-coupled framework services allows applications to be more flexible, and easy to incorporate additional new requirements. This is done by restructuring the ETL framework based on the SOA. The ETL process development, and particularly its design phase, is still perceived as a time-consuming task. This is mainly due to the fact that ETL processes are typically designed by considering a specific technology from the very beginning of the development process. Thus, it is difficult to share and reuse methodologies and best practices among projects implemented with different technologies. To overcome this drawback, a framework for model driven development (MDA) of ETL processes was introduced. The benefit of this framework is twofold: (1) using vendor-independent models for a unified design of ETL processes, based on the expressive and well-known standard for modeling business processes, and (2) automatically transforming these models into the required vendor-specific code to execute the ETL process into a concrete platform. In this paper, we propose a Model Driven Based Algorithm for service-oriented ETL process. Results of the comparison between the proposed algorithm and similar algorithms are promising. The proposed algorithm has characteristics like ease of use and understanding, tool support and being up-to-date.
