چکیده مقاله:

In this study, phenol that is the major pollutant of olefin unit wastewater was treated by using spent catalysts of styrene unit of Tabriz petrochemical company. XRF analysis showed that these catalysts include about 70% Fe3O4 and Fe2O3. Among the methods for removal of volatile organic compounds, advanced oxidation processes such as Fenton-Like process have high removal efficiency. H2O2 and iron oxide catalysts are used in the Fenton/Fenton-like processes for generating hydroxyl radicals to chemically destruct organic pollutants including phenol. On the other hand the used catalysts of Tabriz Petrochemical styrene unit which are considered as waste causes environmental problems. The main objective of this work was to determine the feasibility of employing spent coked catalysts of styrene unit to degradation of phenol in olefin unit wastewater by Fenton-like process. Therefore, the effects of temperature, amount of catalyst, hydrogen peroxide dosage and treatment time on phenol removal and destruction efficiency were also studied.
