Predictive Factors of Internalized Stigma in Depressive Patients

Objective: The aims of this study were to assess self-stigma among Depressive Patients and toexamine the factors related to self-stigma.Methods: In This cross sectional study 75 depressivepatients were recruited from various outpatient clinics in Isfahan city between January 2013 andFebruary 2013. We used the Quintile regression model for examine the role of socio-economicand demographic Factors, influencing Internalized Stigma in depressive pateins.Results: Themean (SD) score on the total self-stigma scale was 47.9±23.5. Between predictors variablesonly female gender, was negatively predict tors for Internalized Stigma and its subscales (alienation, stereotype endorsement, perceived discrimination and socialwithdrawal).Conclusions: the result of this research suggests that intervention programs toreduce self-stigma in male pateint. One intervention program for this purpose was anti educationprograms for male in the workplace.
