A Neural Network Public Bus Arrival Time Prediction Model using RFID Technology

Online informing passengers and accurate schedule for buses are the important factors to attract people to use public transportation service. According to the importance of predicting bus travel time, in this paper, a model is proposed for predicting bus travel time using ANN method with new combination of effective factor on it. Several studies had been devoted to arrival or travel time prediction problem but in this study we work on new groups of factors such as dwell time out of station for boarding or alighting passengers, waiting time in queue of bus before station and etc. For preparing data and informing passengers at station or in the bus, a model is proposed using RFID technology. This model facilitates buses, stations and control center to predict travel time, arrival time and show them for passengers and also use for planning in control center.
