چکیده مقاله:
Pronunciation has been identified as one of the important aspects of second language acquisition as it plays a crucial role in spoken conversational interactions and intelligibility. However, teaching L2 pronunciation is still a peripheral and/or neglected dimension in L2 syllabuses, materials, and classrooms throughout the world, including Iran. This fact postulate research in this field to highlight its importance and develop the knowledge of teachers, learners and researchers for improvement in L2 pronunciation instruction. A significant body of research has emerged over the past few decades investigating L2 pronunciation teaching. This review is an examination of 32 articles conducted in this field in Iranian EFL courses in addition to some other rigorous studies in EFL context. In general, this study traces out the body of research concerning essential components of pronunciation teaching examined in Iranian EFL research, the status of pronunciation instruction in the Iranian EFL courses, different approaches to teaching L2 pronunciation, Iranian EFL learners' pronunciation problems, some sources of errors and suggestions for dealing with them and current trends in teaching pronunciation in detail. At the end, it highlights limitations of current research, and offers suggestions for future directions
