Introduction to Key Characteristics of NEC/ECC Contracts for Improving Capabilities of Engineering Firms on projec Management

The New Engineering Contract (NEC) is a family of new radical from of construction contract s that facilitate the implementation of sound project management principles. From consultative version of NEC in 1991 by UK Government till NEC3 latest version in 2005 the public and private sector expanded procuring their construction projects by NEC contract. NEC3 is the first and only contract to receive endorsement from the UK office of Government Commerce (OGC) . it satisfies the Achieving Excellence in Construction (AEC) principles. NES3 was selected by Olympic Delivery Authority for the London 2012 Olympic Games Project. It also used in many projects overseas. This paper seeks to introduce the key characteristics of the NEC for improving capabilities of engineering on project management, there are major ideas in NEC that would help decision makers to improve existing construction contracts of prepare for new general revisions. Iranian firms are moving toward international tenders, so they had learn more in competitive world.
