Energy Efficiency Standard and Labeling for Washing Machine in Iran

This paper outlines the engineering and legislative approach taken for establishing energy efficiency standard and Labeling Schemes for standardizing the performance of Washing Machines in Iran. Experimental results of some typical Iranian manufactured Washing Machines were under taken standard test conditions and the potential for energy efficiency improvement of the Iranian Washing Machines was determined. Based on the experimental data results for improving washing machines energy efficiency, ISO standard and IEC - 60456 (1997) for Washing Machines in which minimum energy consumption of washing machines has been defined, was considered as the base for Iranian energy Label scheme. Though, the proposed approach for improving energy efficiency standards of washing machines is designed for Iranian market, but can the utilized by other developing countries.
