PROSPECTS FOR PRIVATE FINANCING OF HYDROPOWER PROJECTS

Conventional global economic policies encourage private rather than government funding of infrastructure projects. Where natural resources are available, hydropower is an effective form of energy production. It is not, however, attractive to investors. This paper looks at some of the issues which must be addressed when considering private funding of hydropower projects.
