The use of geothermal energy for electric power generation depends on exploration and exploitation of the geothermal reservoirs and the choiceof an suitable power plant technology Due to the rich potential of geothermal energy in Iran, the a cal and economical aspects of electricity generation from geothermal energyis of hiah importance. This paper describes the Major components of the capital cost for a 100 MW Geothermal Power Plant and estimates the generation cost of electricity with IF comparison of electricity generation cost between different economical variants geothermal and fossil (steam) power plant is also made witht respect the environmental costs.
