EVALUATION OF AN UNDERFREQUENCY LOAD SHEDDING SCHEME

This paper presents the evaluation of an underfrequency load shedding scheme (UFLS) for an actual power company. This work was initiated because of load growth and system changes during the past several years. A special purpose computer program was used to determine the magnitude of each load shedding step to ensure that overshedding is limited to a maximum of 20%. The stability program was also used to obtain the system response for various contingencies. Ibis paper also discusses some of the factors which must be considered for testing an underfrequency load shedding scheme.
