چکیده مقاله:

Present installed capacity of M.P.Electricity Board, in Madhya Pradesh (India) is 3814 MW. adhya Pradesh is the largest state of the country located at the centre of India having area of 4.43 lac sq. Kms. with population of 66 million. There are 70.57 lac consumers of low tension and about 2050 consumers of high tension in Madhya Pradesh. About 1800 MW of power has been allocated to Madhya Pradesh from the central sector generating stations of National Thermal Power orporation and Nuclear Power Corporaton of India. Average unrestricted demand during mo rn i n g peak: hours in the year 1995-96 rose to 4.827 MW in the month of Dec.'95 and during the current year 1996-97, the same is about 8% higher during the months of April and May 1996 with respect to the preceding year i.e. April and May 1995. Maximum and average energy consumption per day uring year 1995-96 was in the range cif minimum 62.86 MUs to maximum 96 MUs. As per the load forecast of Madhya Pradesh for the current year 1996-97,morning and evening unrestricted peaking power is expected to be 5700 MW and 5800 MW spectively. As against this, Our anticipated availability from all the sources i.e. MPED's own availabilit y, allocation from central sector power stations and inter regional power assistance will be of the order of 4400 MW. During the ensuing rabi crop season viz. from November 11796 onwards, our maximum average energy consumption per day is expected to reach upto 110 MUs per day. It may be seen from the foregoing, that there is wide gap between demand and availability in Madhya Pradesh. As such, scheduling of generation and load management both play vital role and there is a gigantic task: ahead for the power system engineers of M.P. Electricity Board to maintain qualitative and reliable power sup p 1 y in the State of Madh ya Pradesh w i G h prospective power system planning and adopting suitable load regulatory measures. In this paper, the authors have highlighted the present practice being adopted in regard to the power system planning and load management in Madhya Pradesh. As the electrification of villages and energisation of irrigation pumps is being done an a massive scale in Madhya Pradesh and also with the rapid industrialisation of the state, the demand of power is increasing day by day at a very faster pace. On account of the peaking shortages and wide gap between availability and demand, load management of the power system has become very complex. it should therefore be constant endeavour of power engineers to bridge the wide gap between demand and availability with available resources. So far about 20 MOUs and 11 PPAs have been executed by MPEB with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), and it is expected that Madhya Pradesh will become power surplus state from the power deficit in next one or two decades.
