EFFECTS OF CONTAMINATION AND CORROSION ON TRANSMISSION LINES RELIABILITY

Contamination and corrosion are some of the most important problems that affect the life time and reliability of T/L's equipments. In this article we investigate the influences of these phenomenons especialy in contaminated areas, and then propose suitable protective methods for each parts and each element of T/L's according to our investigations expreinces and researches that recently we have done in E.R.E.C. these studies indicated that main conductors , sheild wires and insulators are more impairable in compare with other elements such as towers , Hardwares nd etc. In this manner protective methods that proposes,are , using suitable coatings, suitable equipments catodic protection by sacritifical anode, increasing the surface of anode in galvanic crrosion, regular inspections repair and replacement of impaired elements and etc.
