New Water Treatment Systems In Dry Cooled Power Plants

The power plants built in the arid regions in the Islamic Republic of Iran are equipped with dry cooling towers. This ensures an evaporation free operation and the biggest water consumer is eliminated. For this reason the capacity of the water treatment system can decrease but also the technologies applied require re-evaluation. Beside the conventional ion exchanging systems reverse osmosis or electrodialysis plants can be applied but the thermal systems based on multi-stage technology can also be attractive. The new solutions are favourable for costs and from the point of view of environmental protection.
