POWER PLANTS WITHOUT/WITH GENERATOR CIRCUIT-BREAKERS

Within the scope of this paper the two schemu "without" and "with" gene- circuit-breaken axe compared. It is 6hown that the application of the generator circuit-breaker: * tesults in an improved, 6impleA and cheaper layout of the power plant with easier commissioning and operation, cleaner responsability and competence and thus less susceptibility to human and sy,6tem errors * teplaces elements with ,relatively high fsilure tate,6 by one very teii able element with very low failute tate, * teduces the 6;tte,6.su on components in normal operation, thus avoiding eventual breakdown and increasing Their lifetime and * teducu dramatically the extent of damages in case of direct ox indirect aults thus minimizing tepaiA coast and outage times. However it must be noted that also the generator circuit-breaker cannot .spirit away inherents faults, but it can achieve that possibly they do not have a negative effect.
