ANALYZING THE EFFICIENCY OF THE BOROUJERD KARATE BOARD USING THE MULTI-CRITERIA DECISION-MAKING (TOPSIS) APPROACH

Efficiency analysis is one of the fundamental concepts in management and organizational performance evaluation, providing a scientific basis for strategic decision-making. In the field of sports management, assessing the efficiency of sports federations and associations holds particular importance, as these organizations play a key role in the development and organization of sports at the local level. The present study aimed to analyze the efficiency of the Boroujerd Karate Association using the Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) as a multi-criteria decision-making approach. This research is applied in purpose and descriptive-analytical in method. The statistical population included all ۴۷ sports associations in Boroujerd County, among which ۱۹ associations were selected as the final sample based on the criterion of insured athletes. Finally, in article was written data about karate board. Data were collected through a researcher-made questionnaire based on the managerial dimensions of sports associations, and the results were entered into the TOPSIS decision matrix. Findings indicated that the Karate Association of Boroujerd, ranked ۱۳th among all associations, demonstrated an average level of efficiency. The results showed satisfactory performance in indicators such as organization (mean = ۴.۷۳), planning and policymaking (۴.۲۰), and operations execution (۴.۲۷), while relative weaknesses were observed in social status development (۲.۰۰) and financial resources (۲.۰۷). Based on the TOPSIS analysis, the distances from the positive ideal (S+ = ۰.۰۲۹۷۷۸) and the negative ideal (S = ۰.۰۲۶۳۵۵) solutions indicated that the association is positioned between efficiency and inefficiency. Overall, the findings emphasize the need to strengthen financial resources, attract local support, and enhance social recognition to improve the efficiency of the Boroujerd Karate Association.
