Cultural Aspects of Reconstruction; Case Study: Rudbar Region in Gillan 1990 Earthquake

In this paper, authors discuss how cultural issues affect reconstruction processes after a natural disaster. The case study for this investigation is Rudbar-Iran, a city, which was hit by a massive earthquake in 1990. The cultural consequences of the earthquake in this city are analyzed in all phases and scales of reconstruction. In the end, it is concluded that the policy makers succeeded in minimizing the negative impacts of disasters on the survivors, by considering cultural issues in their decision making process.
