چکیده مقاله:

Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between educational justice, depression, and academic burnout among students at Dezful University of Medical Sciences in ۲۰۲۴. Methods: In this cross-sectional descriptive-analytical study, ۴۰۰ students (۲۰۲ females and ۱۹۸ males) were selected through convenience sampling from a population of ۹۸۳. Data collection employed three validated questionnaires: Berso’s Academic Burnout Questionnaire (۱۹۹۷), Golparvar’s Educational Justice Questionnaire (۲۰۰۹), and Beck Depression Inventory-II (۱۹۶۱). Instrument reliability was confirmed via Cronbach's alpha coefficients of ۰.۸۶ for educational justice, ۰.۸۷ for depression, and between ۰.۷۰ and ۰.۸۲ for academic burnout subscales. Data analysis included Pearson correlation, independent t-tests, one-way ANOVA, and regression analysis. Results: No significant correlation was found between educational justice and academic performance (p=۰.۴۸). However, significant inverse relationships existed between educational justice and both depression (p<۰.۰۰۱) and academic burnout (p<۰.۰۰۱). Nursing students exhibited higher levels of depression (۱۸.۰۵±۱۰.۹۹ vs. ۱۷.۴۴±۱۲.۰۵) and academic burnout (۶۵.۷۰±۱۱.۰۳ vs. ۶۵.۱۳±۱۳.۱۰) compared to medical students. Cynicism and emotional exhaustion subscales also negatively correlated with educational justice. Marital status significantly influenced educational justice scores (p=۰.۰۰۱), with married students scoring higher than singles. Non-local students demonstrated greater educational justice and academic performance scores. Among study fields, anesthesia students scored highest in educational justice (۱۸.۱۵±۵۵.۴۳) and academic performance, while nursing students reported the highest mild depression and academic burnout levels. Conclusion: These findings highlight the importance of promoting educational justice within universities to reduce academic burnout and depressive symptoms, guiding officials in policy development for student wellbeing.
