چکیده مقاله:

The global population is aging rapidly, with the number of individuals aged ۶۰ years and older projected to reach ۲.۱ billion by ۲۰۵۰, according to United Nations estimates. This demographic shift brings heightened demands for integrated geriatric health services and palliative care, particularly for older adults living with multimorbidity, frailty, dementia, and life-limiting chronic conditions. Nurses, as the largest segment of the healthcare workforce, occupy a central position in both health promotion for the elderly and the delivery of high-quality palliative and end-of-life care. This review synthesizes evidence from PubMed, Google Scholar, and Scopus-indexed sources (primarily systematic reviews, scoping reviews, and empirical studies published ۲۰۱۵–۲۰۲۵) to examine nurses’ multifaceted roles, evidence of impact, educational requirements, challenges, and future directions.
