چکیده مقاله:

Objective: Burden of care is one of the most important psychological and social consequences of caring for transplant patients, which can be affected by demographic characteristics such as marital status and occupation. This study aimed to investigate and compare Burden of care in caregivers of transplant patients based on marital status and occupation. Results: Of the ۳۵۲ caregivers of transplant patients, the mean score of Burden of care in married caregivers was ۵۴.۵۶±۸.۹۵ and in single caregivers was ۵۱.۳۳±۶.۲۷, which was a significant difference between the two groups (P=۰.۰۰۱). Also, in examining occupational status, the mean score of Burden of care in employees, self-employed, and housewives/unemployed was ۵۰.۹۱±۷.۸۹, ۸.۳۰±۵۲.۲۹, and ۸.۷۰±۵۶.۴۳, respectively, which was a significant difference between the groups (F(۲,۳۵۴)=۱۳.۸۶, P=۰.۰۱۳). Tukey's post hoc test showed that housewives/unemployed caregivers experienced more burden of care than the other two groups, while the difference between employed and self-employed caregivers was not significant (P=۰.۳۵۶). Also, linear regression analysis showed that marital status and occupation explained ۲% and ۶.۹% of the variance in burden of care, respectively (P<۰.۰۵). Conclusion: The findings of the study showed that married caregivers, especially housewives/unemployed individuals, experience greater burden of care. Therefore, it seems necessary to pay attention to the role of social, family, and occupational supports in reducing the caregiving burden of this group.
