چکیده مقاله:
The goal of this study is to extract the respiration rate from a Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) millimeter wave radar signal in the presence of Random Body Movement (RBM). In the first stage, the Intermediate Frequency (IF) signal containing respiration was generated. After initial processing, the respiration rate was successfully extracted by applying the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT). In the second stage, when random body movement was added to the signal, the extraction of the respiration rate using FFT failed. To overcome this challenge, the Variational Mode Decomposition (VMD) method was used to effectively separate the respiration component from the random body movement. In this work, the IF radar data were simulated based on realistic FMCW parameters, allowing controlled insertion of respiration and RBM components and enabling clear benchmarking of FFT and VMD performance under identical conditions.
