چکیده مقاله:
The urgent global issues, such as environmental ones, make it necessary to concentrate on the issue of social sustainability-focused education in engineering. This issue becomes critical in the context of chemical engineering, which includes the impact of energy and materials utilisation and production on the environment, as infusing sustainability into the educational model becomes imperative. This paper suggests a model of a conceptual and pedagogical approach to sustainability education in chemical engineering. It includes the principles of transformative learning, systems thinking, and interdisciplinary integration to fulfill the requirements of sustainability-oriented outcomes through various pathways of curriculum, instruction, organisation, and application dimensions, as well as applied and systemic approaches to fulfill sustainability-focused competencies. This study includes the analysis of the existing approaches and practices, critical issues, and feasible recommendations to academic programs intended to prepare chemical engineers with the mindset, conceptions, and tools to support the sustainable design of processes, technologies, and policies.
