چکیده مقاله:
Japan represents one of the most successful examples of industrial transformation in modern economic history. Following the Second World War, the country evolved from a resource-constrained economy into a global industrial and technological leader with internationally competitive capabilities in automobiles, electronics, robotics, semiconductors, precision machinery, and advanced manufacturing. This study examines the principal determinants of Japan’s industrial development, emphasizing the roles of the developmental state, industrial policy, institutional capacity, technological learning, innovation, and adaptive governance. The research employs a qualitative methodology based on documentary research, systematic literature review, qualitative content analysis, and comparative institutional analysis. Evidence is synthesized from academic literature, government publications, and reports issued by international organizations. The findings indicate that Japan’s industrial success resulted from the interaction of strategic state leadership, MITI-led industrial policy, professional bureaucracy, government–business cooperation, technological capability development, manufacturing excellence, human capital investment, export-oriented industrialization, and continuous policy learning. Rather than relying solely on market mechanisms, Japan established an integrated governance system that coordinated industrial policy, finance, innovation, infrastructure, and production capability while continuously adapting to domestic and global changes. The study concludes that Japan’s experience provides valuable lessons for countries pursuing sustainable industrial competitiveness, technological upgrading, and long-term industrial transformation.
