چکیده مقاله:
firefighting operations rely heavily on energy-intensive equipment and vehicles that consume large amounts of fossil fuels and emit significant pollutants including carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides, and particulate matter. the adoption of green technologies such as electric vehicles, hybrid propulsion systems, renewable energy integration, and energy-efficient equipment offers substantial opportunities to reduce the environmental footprint of fire departments. this research examines the application of green technologies in firefighting equipment and vehicles in shiraz fire department and assesses their potential for reducing energy consumption and pollutant emissions. using a mixed-method approach combining energy audits of existing equipment, life-cycle emission analysis of conventional versus green alternatives, and semi-structured interviews with ۱۵ fire department administrators and equipment specialists, the research evaluates the technical feasibility, economic viability, and operational implications of green technology adoption. findings reveal that current firefighting operations in shiraz consume approximately ۲.۵ million liters of diesel annually, generating over ۶,۵۰۰ tons of co۲ emissions. the transition to hybrid aerial ladder trucks could reduce fuel consumption by ۳۵-۴۰%, while solar-powered fire stations could offset ۲۵% of grid electricity demand. however, barriers include high upfront costs, limited charging infrastructure, and concerns about operational reliability during emergencies. the research concludes that a phased adoption strategy prioritizing hybrid vehicles and solar charging stations is the most feasible pathway.
