چکیده مقاله:

Steel substrates were modified using a cerium-based conversion coating followed by a zinc phosphate post-treatment as a sealing layer to enhance the performance of the protective system. The objective was to develop an improved surface protection strategy for steel used in oil, gas, refining, and petrochemical environments. The corrosion behavior and surface characteristics of the developed coating system were investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results demonstrated that the incorporation of a zinc phosphate post-treatment significantly enhanced the corrosion resistance of the cerium-based conversion coating. Surface analysis revealed the formation of a more compact and less defective coating layer after phosphate sealing. Overall, the Ce-Zn conversion coating system showed improved protective performance, demonstrating its potential as a corrosion mitigation approach for steel in oil, gas, and petrochemical applications.
