This review explores the intersection of neuroplasticity and residential architecture through the emerging discipline of neuroarchitecture. It systematically examines how residential environments influence neural adaptability, cognitive functioning, and emotional regulation across different life stages. Drawing upon interdisciplinary evidence from neuroscience, environmental psychology, and architectural theory, the paper evaluates a range of spatial typologies including urban versus rural contexts, high- versus low-density living, and traditional versus contemporary designs. Special attention is given to age-sensitive design considerations, highlighting how children, adults, and older individuals interact differently with built environments in ways that shape or constrain neural development and plasticity. The review also analyzes the methodological frameworks used to study these interactions, including neuroimaging, behavioral assessments, and qualitative evaluations, while acknowledging limitations in generalizability and experimental control. Ultimately, the findings underscore the need to reframe residential design as an active contributor to neurological health. By incorporating neuroscientific principles into architectural practice, particularly those related to sensory modulation, spatial organization, and cognitive ergonomics, designers can create environments that support lifelong brain adaptability. This paper advocates for a research-informed, neuroarchitecture-based design paradigm that promotes both individual well-being and broader public health outcomes.
