چکیده مقاله:

This study investigates the effect of cement grout incorporating diatomite on the improvement of the geotechnical properties of granular soils mixed with clay. The primary objective is to evaluate the potential of diatomite as a natural pozzolanic additive to reduce cement consumption while enhancing the mechanical strength of treated soils. To achieve this, soil specimens were prepared with various diatomite replacement levels (۱۰%, ۲۰%, and ۳۰% by weight of cement) at a constant water-to-cement ratio of ۰.۹, and were subjected to compaction, unconfined compressive strength (UCS), and direct shear tests. The results showed that cement treatment increased the maximum dry density and decreased the optimum moisture content. Moreover, partial replacement of cement with diatomite particularly at the ۲۰% level resulted in a significant improvement in compressive and shear strength, attributed to pozzolanic reactions and the formation of secondary cementitious products. Overall, the findings suggest that cement grout incorporating diatomite can serve as an effective and sustainable alternative for stabilizing sand-clay mixtures.
