Defining Characteristics of Sustainable Architecture in Fostering Sense of Place

Sense of place, as a vital human connection to the environment, has gained great deal of importance in facing of today's challenges, with sustainable architecture emerging as a powerful tool for its enhancement, beyond mere environmental responsibility. This analytical- interpretive research, by examining relevant literature, identifies key attributes of sustainable architecture as the most crucial factors in fostering a sense of belonging and place identity. The findings indicate that the intelligent integration of sustainability principles with cultural and local considerations leads to the creation of spaces that are not only environmentally efficient but also deeply rooted in the place's identity, evoking dynamism, attachment, and vitality in users. This article underscores the necessity of a more holistic perspective on sustainable architecture, one where the strengthening of sense of place considered on paring with environmental and economic considerations.
