چکیده مقاله:
The relationship between children and their living environments has become an increasingly significant topic within contemporary architectural discourse. Homes are not merely physical shelters; they are formative spaces that influence children's emotional well-being, cognitive growth, and creative development. Despite this, much of residential architecture continues to prioritize adult-centered functions, often neglecting the unique spatial needs of children. Previous research has demonstrated that the early environment plays a critical role in shaping creativity and imagination. Scholars highlight that access to flexible spaces, natural elements, and opportunities for unstructured play can have long-lasting impacts on children's ability to innovate and problem-solve. In dense urban contexts such as Tehran, where outdoor play opportunities are limited, the home becomes even more central to childhood experiences. This study addresses the intersection of child development and residential design, asking how architecture can actively foster creativity in children rather than passively accommodate their presence. By combining theoretical insights with design exploration, the research proposes architectural strategies that integrate play, autonomy, and safety within the home. The findings presented in this paper are grounded in both literature and a design case study in Tehran, illustrating how architecture can serve as a catalyst for imagination and growth. The proposed design demonstrates that by rethinking the role of residential space, architects can create environments that nurture future generations intellectually, emotionally, and socially.
