چکیده مقاله:

Rapid urbanization and the growing demand for energy have highlighted the urgent need for a transition toward sustainable urban energy systems. Among renewable resources, solar energy holds significant potential to reduce dependence on fossil fuels and enhance urban sustainability. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of solar energy within the framework of integrated urban energy management and to examine its environmental, economic, spatial, and institutional dimensions. This research employs a qualitative, document-based approach, using systematic analysis of reputable scientific sources and international reports. The findings indicate that solar energy can substantially contribute to improving urban environmental quality by reducing emissions, increasing energy efficiency, and optimizing consumption patterns. Moreover, integrating solar technologies into the urban fabric, through rooftops, facades, and underutilized spaces creates new opportunities for localized energy production. Despite these benefits, several challenges, including infrastructural limitations, high initial investment costs, weak institutional coordination, and inconsistent energy policies, hinder the widespread adoption of solar energy in cities. Global experiences demonstrate that successful integration of solar energy requires a combination of coherent policy frameworks, smart infrastructure, and strong public participation. The results emphasize that solar energy integration must be pursued through a holistic and coordinated approach aligned with the managerial and spatial structure of cities to serve as an effective and sustainable component of urban energy systems.
