چکیده مقاله:
This study investigates the integration of work and living environments as a contemporary design paradigm, addressing evolving lifestyles, changing labor patterns, and the demand for flexible spatial arrangements. Moving beyond a mere functional blend of residential and occupational spaces, work-life complexes are examined as environments that shape daily routines, social interaction, and individual engagement with work. The concept of job involvement is employed as a theoretical lens to evaluate how spatial settings influence a person’s psychological connection to their job. A mixed-methods design incorporates library research, a case study, and a quantitative survey to address the research questions. Through library research, environmental indicators of the work-life environment are identified, designed, and examined in strategic planning documents; qualitative analysis then develops the selected indicators within the study’s theoretical framework. The theoretical development includes a review of domestic case studies related to the Work-Life pattern, revealing a scarcity of integrated projects that simultaneously address living, working, social interactions, and spatial flexibility. Consequently, four foreign projects with integrated work-life approaches are analyzed: Troy North (Detroit, USA), Zoku (Amsterdam, Netherlands), Guild (Denver, USA), and Roppongi Center (Tokyo, Japan). These cases emphasize co-located residential and workspaces, social interaction platforms, functional flexibility, and environmental quality. Findings suggest that designing work-life ensembles requires integrated, flexible strategies—utilizing urban renewal, modular interiors, movable furniture, public social spaces, and sustainable materials. The study concludes that successful work-life complexes balance privacy with communal life, optimize space efficiency, and foster social participation, offering a practical framework for design processes in dense urban contexts.
