چکیده مقاله:
This study attempted to compare cultural elements two series of textbooks written by native English speaker authors and Iranian non-native English. The issue of culture was divided into two categories: the small letter 'c' and big letter 'C'. Seven themes for big 'C' and five themes for small 'c' culture were selected. Taking a discourse analytic design, the study examined the content of the samples selected from two sets of textbooks and compared the frequency of the distribution of the cultural elements. The non-parametric statistical analysis of the collected data showed that the textbooks written by non-native (Iranian) English authors did not deal with English culture as much as the native speaker authors did. Also, the themes of big 'C' interpretation of culture were more frequently found in both sets of textbooks. The study could offer some pedagogical implications and also suggestions for further study in the future.
