چکیده مقاله:
Even with the growing prerequisite for English language proficiency in the globalized era, English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction in Iranian public schools stands greatly bound to traditional Grammar-Translation Methods (GTM). This quantitative study explores the effect of integrating modern pedagogical approaches—specially the Flipped Classroom Model (FCM), Gamification, and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT)—on the English proficiency and learning motivation of Iranian high school students. Employing a quasi-experimental pre-test/post-test design, a sample of N=۴۰۰ senior high school students from three major Iranian cities (Tehran, Shiraz, Tabriz) was divided into experimental (n=۲۰۰) and control (n=۲۰۰) groups. The experimental group received instruction through modern methodologies for one academic semester, while the control group followed the conventional Ministry of Education curriculum. Data were collected using a standardized English proficiency test and a modified Attitude/Motivation Test Battery (AMTB). Independent and paired-samples t-tests revealed a statistically significant improvement in both the linguistic proficiency (p<.۰۰۱) and motivation levels (p<.۰۵) of the experimental group compared to the control group. The findings indicate that shifting from teacher-centered to learner-centered modern methodologies can considerably improve the current slump in Iran's public education language sector. Policy implications for the Iranian Ministry of Education are debated.
