چکیده مقاله:

This study examined the impact of short films on the speaking skills of Iraqi EFL learners using a mixed-methods design. The participants consisted of ۶۰ learners drawn from four intact classes at a private language institute in Baghdad. The sample included ۳۰ intermediate-level learners (B۱) and ۳۰ upper-intermediate learners (B۲). Two intact classes, one intermediate and one upper- intermediate, were assigned to the experimental group (EG), while the remaining two classes, one intermediate and one upper-intermediate, served as the control group (CG). Over six weeks, the experimental group engaged in activities structured around a "before-while-after" framework. The data from pre- and post-speaking tests were analyzed using ANOVA. Results showed that learners exposed to short films achieved significant improvement in speaking fluency, with moderate gains in pronunciation and grammatical accuracy, while the control group showed limited progress. The findings suggest that pedagogically guided short films effectively enhance speaking proficiency and support the integration of authentic multimedia resources into EFL instruction.
