چکیده مقاله:
Reading fluency, particularly reading rate, plays a pivotal role in successful second language reading development, yet it remains insufficiently addressed in many EFL contexts. While repeated reading has been established as an effective fluency building technique, limited empirical attention has been given to the comparative impact of unassisted and audio assisted repeated reading at the pre intermediate level. This quasi experimental study investigated the effects of these two approaches on the reading rate of Iranian EFL learners. Forty six female learners aged sixteen to eighteen were selected through a placement test and assigned to two experimental groups. Data were collected using pretest and posttest reading assessments and analyzed through descriptive statistics and analysis of covariance. The results demonstrated a significant advantage for audio assisted repeated reading. The findings indicate that auditory modeling enhances automaticity and accelerates reading fluency development among pre intermediate EFL learners.
