چکیده مقاله:
This survey investigated the cultural identity of Iranian English Language teachers. Cultural identity plays a significant role in shaping teachers' beliefs, instructional practices, and professional interactions. This qualitative study aimed to investigate the cultural identity of Iranian teachers and identify key factors affecting its formation and expression. This study was conducted using a qualitative research design, and data were collected through semi-structured interviews with Iranian teachers working in university and language institutes. The analysis revealed three dominant themes contributing to Iranian teachers' cultural identity, including religious and moral values, family and social upbringing, national traditions, educational background and professional experiences. These factors were found to shape teachers' attitudes toward teaching, classroom interaction, and professional responsibility. In general, foreign language teachers, apart from their native cultural orientations, may seem to thrive in the target culture to which they are exposed, without even being physically present in the target society environment.
