چکیده مقاله:
Background and Aim: Cognition is the mental process that leads to the acquisition of knowledge through thinking, experience and emotion and includes processes such as attention, memory, judgment, and problem solving. Cognitive skills are impaired by Central nervous system disorders, including Parkinson's. According to studies, a large percentage of Parkinson's patients have cognitive impairment. If cognitive impairments are not treated, limit patient's social, occupational, psychological, and functional lives (quality of life). Limited life quality means life damage due to the loss of potential physical, social, psychological and occupational abilities. In order to prevent damage to the life quality, it is necessary to provide treatment and rehabilitation interventions in the early stages of the disorder. Methods: This review article is based on research published between ۲۰۱۰-۲۰۱۸ on google scholar, pubmed, Elsevier databases and library resources. The initial search was conducted with the keywords of cognition, memory, and Parkinson. Then the articles related to the topic were selected and used to prepare the article. Results: Investigate the rehabilitation of cognitive skills in Parkinson's patients. Conclusion: Studies show that Parkinson's patients suffer from impaired attention, executive function, and deceleration of information processing. Rehabilitation of these cognitive skills is done by speech and language pathologist. These specialists evaluate patients using specialized techniques. Then, based on the results of the evaluation, considering the severity, type of disorder, and other factors affecting the prognosis, individual or group specialized treatment will be provided and necessary counseling will be provided to the patient and family. Conclusion: Speech and language pathologists play a significant role in the rehabilitation of cognitive skills and memory in Parkinson's patients. They help rehabilitation of the cognitive skills in Parkinson's patients using therapies such as cognitive-behavioral treatments. It is therefore necessary to refer Parkinson's patients to speech and language pathologists in the early stages of cognitive impairment.
