The rapid urbanization of the global population and the concurrent imperative to decarbonize transport sectors have positioned solar energy as a critical component of future mobility infrastructure. This research evaluates the technical feasibility, economic viability, and environmental impact of integrating photovoltaic (PV) systems into urban transportation networks, including metro rail, electric bus fleets, and electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. Through a systematic analysis of global case studies, this study demonstrates that solar integration can supply between ۱۷% and ۸۱% of operational energy requirements, contingent upon system design and geographic factors. Environmental assessments confirm substantial mitigation potential, with large-scale hybrid systems capable of reducing carbon emissions by over one million tons annually. However, widespread adoption faces barriers including intermittency, high initial capital expenditures, and complex grid integration requirements. The study concludes that convergence of advanced energy storage, vehicle-to-grid (V۲G) technology, and smart grid architecture renders solar-powered transportation a viable and necessary pathway for sustainable urban transportation development.
